"The Abstract Context" at Grace Chapel Gallery

Here is one of two larger paintings I am exhibiting at the upcoming Grace Chapel Gallery Exhibition. "The Abstract Context" is a show of local abstract/contemporary art at the Grace Chapel Art Gallery in Lexington, MA. The show opens October 2 and runs until November 17, 2010.

This painting depicts a house I love driving by in all seasons. It began as a cold April painting and then became a warm June picture and ended as an ice storm in September.

It has been so hot for two days, it almost makes me miss the snow and ice. Almost.

Playing Favorites

It is always wonderful to have a favorite (completed) painting. This bad boy is one that I always enjoy running into. From time to time, I check him out and wonder, "How did that happen to you?" I must have been painting in a trance and there are passages that I could imagine before I painted them but can't remember actually laying down the paint.

I have been working diligently to get over my fear of color. Have I gone too far?

Warm Winter Days

The sky took on a warm glow today and I let my imagination run away with me. Wishful thinking hoping for a bright day to melt the snow.

Painting While Snowbound

I enjoy being stuck in the snow where my studio is. The view is lovely and there is so much to paint. Even the bushes outside my window are inspiration.
