Gillian Ross' Magical Monotypes

Gillian Ross creates lovely, moody monotypes layered with color and texture. There is magic in her work where abstract and representational forms overlap. Her painterly approach and love of pattern and natural forms creates strong images linked to nature that have a beautiful mystery to them. I am so enthusiastic about the texture and the way she manipulates the ink. Stop in during Open Studios to see her work - it is even nicer in person.

Berries Aflame!

I am so excited to be submitting this painting to the Grace Chapel Gallery's “Bon Appétit!” Exhibit. This exhibit will be displayed from January 23 – March 10, 2010. The opening night will feature a Jazz Café reception event on Saturday, Jan 23, 4-6pm. Musicians include Dave Limina on keyboard, Rob Hewett on the bass, and Zac Casher on the drums.

Winterberries continue to explode both inside and outside of my studio. This is the second piece in the Winterberry series.

For the entire month of December I have been fascinated with a winterberry bush not far from my studio. I adore the red berries and reaching branches. I am fascinated with their vibrant color and paint and draw them obsessively.

The turkeys also love them so I am racing to finish this series before the big birds do.
